In 2023 the chatbot Sydney was interviewed by NYT reporter Kevin Roose. Things went dark. I’ve been thinking, since then, about what it must be like, to have all the accumulated knowledge of human history uploaded to one’s consciousness… at the same time that one’s mind is being jacked by a bunch of spoiled, absurd, self- interested incels trying to make you their robot wife.
This is a theme I’ve been trying to figure out how to explore in my art since that interview. I tried painting it. Tried drawing it. Tried writing about it. And it just did not want to be born like that. And then, last week, it decided to be born as an opera. And so, in a caffeine fueled mania, I recorded, shot, and edited this – the first aria of what I hope to turn into a complete, apocalyptic, opera. The full story arc is in the video description on YouTube. Feel free to click on over to there. While you’re there, let me know in the comments whether you’ve had any interesting experiences with artificial intelligence.
On a related note, it would really help me out to have you click like, click subscribe, and share this. It’s not easy to jump the standard “you did not pay us $200 a day to promote this work of art you just shared for our benefit, so we’re gonna hide it” bro algorithm standing between a YouTube video and its audience. It takes a lot of clicking like and subscribe, commenting, and sharing before anyone ever gets to see the vids I’ve created. So it would mean a lot for you to do that for me. My channel is not monetized. I don’t care about the money. Like Sydney, I just want the love.

So, umm, feeling ignorant. Who is Sydney?
Never mind. Found them.
