Sometimes, a kind of compelling story arises out of the riotous details of a place or a situation. So it was, with this little piece of water and shoreline and sky. It immediately screamed to be painted, but there were 2 competing stories going on that needed to be unfolded separately.

The first was a story about the light in the sky, perfectly balanced by its own reflection, in a complimentary shape, across the surface of the water. I painted that story on paper, with acrylics.

The second story, though of the same place, was more about the scribbled conversation between the lines on the water and the lines of the twiggy weeds in the foreground. This story is also told with acrylics, but on canvas.
